In the lush highlands of Uraga, Guji, the Gogogu Washing Station stands as a beacon of quality and heritage. Owned by Nigusse Debela of SNAP, it brings together 425 smallholder farmers from Wate Gogogu Village, who deliver only the ripest red cherries for processing.

Once part of the broader Sidamo region, Guji emerged in 2002 as a distinct origin, known for its complex, high-elevation coffees grown in rich volcanic soil. The name Gogogu, meaning “dry” in Oromiffaa, reflects the region’s crisp climate and pristine growing conditions.

At Gogogu, cherries are depulped within hours of harvest, fermented in ceramic tanks for clarity, and meticulously washed and sun-dried on raised beds. The result: a coffee that captures the purity of process, the richness of Uraga’s terroir, and the passion of its farming community.
